How To Swap Two Faces in Photoshop Easily

This is one of the exciting feature in Photoshop. It allows us to change the face of a person to another face seamlessly. This is necessary for some reasons. You can replace the hairstyle of a model with the
desired hair, you can change the dress, put smile on the face too.

In this tutorial we will go through the process. I am using Photoshop CC 2018. Every other versions
have the same
method, so do not be bothered you will still follow with your version of  Photoshop.

STEP 1: Open the images
Open your Photoshop. Go to File > Open and select the images from the folders you saved them in your computer. You can select the two images at the same time by holding CTRL key and clicking on the two images

STEP 2: Chose the Final Image You Want
Go to the file tab that has the image you want to change the person into. Chose the Lasso tool or press the letter L on your keyboard. Trace the face. Be careful when tracing around the eyebrows, mouth and nose. Make sure your selection does not extend much to the curves in the face but focus mostly on the inside of the face.

STEP 3: Copy the Image
After selection go to File > Copy or use the Keyboard shortcut CTRL + C

STEP 4: Paste the Image on the Desired Photo
Since we have selected and copied the face we will use to replace the face in the second image. Go to the tab on Photoshop with the second image using your Move tool or Letter V. Press CTRL + V or go to Edit > Paste.

Then press CTRL + D  to deselect your selection  you made earlier with lasso tool. Name the layer "Face"

STEP 5: Resizing and Matching the Face
At this stage, lower the opacity of the layer with the image for swapping to about 40%
Then use Transform tool or CTRL + T to match the faces. Hold SHIFT key to make sure
that when you are resizing, it is proportional. Pay attention to the eyes, nose
and mouth. Make sure they match in position and size. after matching, click enter and
increase the opacity to 100%

STEP 6: Duplicate the Background Image
By background image, I mean the image we want to swap our face into. To duplicate, Use CTRL + J or right click inside the layer and chose duplicate layer. You can rename it to "body". To do this, double click inside the layer and then change the name. Use the visibility icon to hide the layer below it.

STEP 7: Do the Clipping Mask
You have to Press CTRL then click on the thumbnail with the face layer. This will turn the face into an active selection. Then click on the Visibility icon of the body layer and hide it. This will make only the face layer visible.

STEP 8: Overlapping the Face and Body
With the face still selected, go to Select > Modify  and chose Contract. Contract it by 8 or 9 pixels

STEP 9: Delete the Face from the Body Layer
Make sure the body layer is selected, then press Delete or Backspace. This will remove the area beneath the face. Press CTRL + D to deselect.

STEP 10: Select Both the Body and Face
Make sure you select both "body" and "face" layers. Do this by holding CTRL while clicking on the two layers

Go to Edit > Auto blend layers.

In the dialog box that appears, select Panorama, then check both boxes for Seamless Tones and Colors and Content Aware Fill Transparent Areas, then OK.

The final image will be transformed. You can use the adjustment filters like levels, curves, color
balance, hue and saturation to blend the color of the face. This is the result
