QR code is an abbreviation for Quick Response Code. It is a very popular trademark for a type of matrix barcode. It has vast storage capacity and easy readability. It is popular in consumer advertising and packaging. It is used for product tracking, identification and time tracking. A smartphone is used as the QR code scanner. It displays the code
and reveal information embedded in the code. Such information include the website url, contact, phone number, email. QR codes have various other uses such as payment using QR code payment (especially cryptocurrency system like Bitcoin). QR codes have application in video games, website login, encription and mobile operating systems.


As a graphic designer, you will need to create QR for your packaging design. It will help you communicate about the brand and promote the product. You can also embed some other useful information using it.

Create a QR Code using CorelDRAW

Create a new document. Go to Object > Insert QR code



Step 2
Go to the Object Docker, you will see a dropdown list of different QR code options


Step 3
You have to input a correct information like email, SMS, contact, phone number etc. You can customize the look. The small squares inside the QR code are called pixels while the larger squares in the corners and the smaller squares inside with borders are called markers.

 
You can save your QR code style for future use. To do this, simply go to the style indicator icon at the QR code corner and chose New Style Form. 


Minimize the visual effects added to the code to avoid error in reading. You can use the error correction setting to minimize this. Chose High to improve the chance of reading


Step 4
The next step is to validate the code. Go to the Object Docker, click on Validate. It will reveal all the information inside the QR code.


Your QR code is now ready. You can place it on your product package design or logo work. To place it on a logo, import the logo file. Place it at the center of the QR code and validate it to make sure the code is correctly read.
To validate QR code that is not created in CorelDraw, simply go to Object > Validate Barcode.
