Adidas is coined from both the nickname and the surname of the founder, Adolf Dassler. Adidas is a very popular brand that provides sports equipment and wears worldwide. The logo has no major concept behind it. Dassler wanted a linear and simple iconic design. He purchased it from Finnish sportswear label. The logo was based on three stripes and have undergone redesign over the years.
An emblem logo was created using ITC Avant Garde Gothic font. It is simple and clean. The letter "d" in the "Adidas" was made to interact with the shoes
Trefoil Logo
Due to the market expansion, the logo was changed in 1971. The logo is made of radiating leaves and the three stripes in the lower part of the logo. The logo is a symbol for growth in the ever-changing and expanding market. This logo helped catapult Adidas products to worldwide fame. The logo can be seen in several products and sports centers.
Three Bars
The "three bars" logo was created in 1997. It was designed by the Creative Director, Peter Moore. The bars were bent vertically and rotated at 30 degrees giving the look of a mountain. This logo is currently in use alongside the trefoil logo.
The Wordmark Logo
Introduced in 2005, the logo still retains the three stripes. The stripes are placed horizontally to the classic font used giving a minimal feel. This is the simplest of the logos used by Adidas. It is now widely on their products and services
The evolution of Adidas logo proves that companies rebrand identity to stay relevant. It also helps them to compete with rival companies and move along with the recent trends in identity design
