How to Draw with Lines and Curves in CorelDRAW

If you want to create freehand sketches with CorelDRAW, the most important tools to get acquainted with are Freehand (F5) and Polyline tool. They are used to draw lines and curves. We can easily erase mistakes as we use them to create drawings. The lines we create can be straight (if you constrain it vertically or horizontally) or curved and its segments are connected by nodes.

With the Tool, you can control how smooth the lines will appear. You can increase the smoothness if you are using a mouse to trace the lines.

The Polyline tool is used when we need to create complex lines that have both curves and straight lines. To draw straight lines, click where you want to start and then click where you want to end the line. If it is a curved segment, then drag along after clicking where you want to start the segment.
To copy a line or drawing, drag the shape while holding the right mouse button and then select Copy here

To create an arc with this tool, select the tool, click on the document to specify the control point. Hold ALT key and drag to create an arc. If you release the ALT key, you will switch to the Freehand tool. Once you are done drawing, double-click on the screen to release.

To draw straight lines, we can use the Bezier tool or Pen tool. It creates straight lines by simply clicking. Then after moving a few distances, you click again.  This will be the node. Continue doing this till you create a shape with straight lines

To create curves using the Bezier tool, click to create a node, move a little distance, then click to create another node. Drag through this node to create a curve. Press the SPACEBAR key after creating your curve to release.

The B-Spline tool is different from the Bezier tool in creating a curved line. It creates continuous smooth curved lines. You specify control points and then the tool automatically determines the curves using your control points.

3-Point Curve is a quick way of creating curves and arcs by specifying their length and width. Drag with the tool to create the width first, release your mouse and then move your cursor up or down to create the height of the curve.

If you hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard, the curve will be a symmetrical curve. If you hold the CTRL key, you will create a circular curve.

The 2-Point Line is used to draw a straight line by dragging from the starting point to the end. The 2-point line has variations. You can create a perpendicular or tangential 2-point line by selecting the options from the property bar.

The perpendicular 2-point line is used to draw perpendicular lines by joining existing curves

The tangential 2-point line can be used to join parts of a cylinder by dragging from the edge of the first object (here, it is an ellipse) to the second object (the second ellipse) till you see the tangent snap point

To change some settings about any tool, go to Tools > Options. From the Workspace lists, choose Toolbox. Then you can change the settings of any tool using this option.
